For the final paper in my business class, we had to pick a publicly traded company and write about the company. I choose Canon and since so many peoplpe in this forum seem to love Canon: I was just wondering who on this forum owns stock in Canon? the ticker symbol is CAJ

edit: i don't own Canon's stock but a mutual fund that I am invested in has a large stake in Canon. Canon is their 2nd largest holding with 2.68% of their overall portfolio.

So little profit in what industry, the electronics industry? I don't think so. The margins in some branches might be small and the competition might be intense, but there is plenty of money to be made in electronic goods and services.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

I don't own stocks directly, and if i did, they would not be in overseas based companies.

I do invest in a UK tracker, in a small way. Can't afford to do more just now.

Thats not the important #s.
Margins:
Biz Machines......... 21%
Cameras............... 28%
Lenses............... 8%

I was really surprised how low the margins are on lenses.

I suppose you are right. Margins look prety good for cameras....

I think you are maybe getting the wrong info on the lenses, in my reading of the report Camera lenses are lumped into the numbers for the cameras. The refrence to Lenses and Other products is really in refrence to industral lens supplies not related to cameras.

I am not sure you will be getting anyone who actually owns the stock to be divulging the contents of their portfolio on a public forum.
