Permanent ban

I would vote against the neotec, as an owner. Its a cool feature, but hardly worht the price and isn't that stable. I'd much rather have a sturdier rig that takes a couple extra seconds to put up.

My 055ProB has proven itself to be steady as a rock and the 486 ball head is versatile and completely steady too. It is a heavy rig but worth lugging about especially when it results in getting the pin sharp photo being sought ... :-)

For what? The task requirements are needed to determine if a device is up to the task.

For that, on a tripod, I'd get the 488RC2. Sturdier than the 486 by a bit, and has a separate pan control so you're not trying to pan while keeping the ball head from flopping over. I use a 486 on monopods or when weight's critical.

If you meant me, no I meant the 488 RC2.
I use a since-discontinued Manfrotto CF; I wouldn't hesitate to get the MF one if I needed a new one.
