No, I do not and the main reason is I use my cell as the business line and it's not with the yellow book. Most of the freelancers I know go with agents, web marketing and word of mouth.

No, for the same reason that Vegas Poboy listed. Most of my advertising is word of mouth, website, and local newspaper. And I'm really busier than I want to be.

Ditto! No one really uses Yellow Pages any more. Too expensive and not very effective since the internet emerged.

Post cards I leave them everywhere. Did the yellow pages and phone book thing, I have never had anyone say they found me in the yellow pages or phone book.

You should.
If someone hears of you and can only remember part of the name they can look it up and you pick up business.
The smallest add (usualy just an address entry) will do the trick.

Have you tired? Anyone calling you from that form of advertisement?

Not a lot of them just from the add but a bunch that had heard of the company then looked it up when they needed something.

I'm in the Yellow Pages. Hasn't worked yet but I've only been in it a few months. Need a landline for my DSL anyway so figured what the heck...it's another tax deductable business expense.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

You have a relatively distinct advantage of being among students already, so business would naturally flow. For most of us that isn't the case so it is indeed possible to get a cold call every now and then. It's also good to establish yourself in the area in general. A Yellow Pages listing is a good way to do that. It provides a bit of legitimacy that the internet cannot give.
