Which would be the best speedlite for these camera's?

Which speedlite would be the best for 1D MKIIN and 30D?

But mainly for the 1D MKIIN.

(1) 430EX

or

(2) 580EX

580ex would be the best option, 430ex has mostly th same options as 580ex but it has less power.

both are good, the 580 just has a few more options and more power

Best for what?

The 580 is the best, but depending on what you want to use it for, the 430EX is a fine flash.

Considering the amount of snow on the roads here now, an AWD Subaru could take both of them, both in performance and basic ability to get around.

Depends on what you want it for, and how much money you are prepared to spend on it really - Nothing wrong with the 430, will probably do for 98% of people's needs, but if you need the extra power for long reach or high ceiling bounce etc. or multiple flash firing functionality, you may be better off with the 580.

That's not quite a fair comparison.

The 580 and 430 is more like.... a ferrari and a porsche...

both are awesome, ferrari just has a bigger engine and a couple other bells and whistles.... but both are MORE than capable.

smarts just suck and are ugly and don't compare at ALL to a ferrari.
