Ok....this may sound like a really really stupid question....but I am going to ask anyway. I have a Canon EOS 20D and I am wondering if I ever want to take black and white photos, I probably can't do it with this camera....correct?

I am used to film and with that I know I would just buy black and white film to take B&W photos. Not sure how or even if, it can be done with a digital.

Thanks for indulging my craziness.....

You can turn any picture you've already taken into a B&W photo. After you download the image off the camera, you use photo editing software to convert it to black and white (and save as a copy so as not to overwrite the original.

Black and white mode is somewhere under image parameters in the menu. Most people shoot color and then convert to B&W because it gives more creative control.

It's best done with Photoshop in post. I really prefer the look of black and white film, though.

I'm with you; while I do like the results I get when doing B&W conversions in digital. B&W film has a look that sets it apart from converting color to B&W.

Yes people can tell themselves that plugin A or action B make their digital files look just like HP-5 and FP-4 but honestly they're just not the same.

If I didn't want grain I wouldn't be using HP-5 :)

Always rememeber choices are good :)
