I had this one time with mine laptop and tried everything I could think of. Finally my son said try restarting your computer and wala!, it worked!! won't hurt to try. Otherwise maybe it's a loose wire/plug-in somewhere on the CD drive. Or maybe your drive just died. jim

Have you updated/ changed drivers for the burner. Check to see if you have the latest drivers or if you have recently changed roll back to a previous driver. If you are using Windows XP create a system restore point before you proceed. That way if you stuff anything up you can go back to the present. I had this problem a while back and it was caused by the drivers (usually is). Good luck. Brian

JimAskew Cream of the Crop More info | If your PC still meets your needs then replacing the CD/DVR drive is trival and inexpensive. If you are the type who doesn't like to open up the PC box then pick up a new external one with an USB interface...still fairly cheap and a simple plug in and load the supporting s/w to setup... Jim -- I keep the Leica D-Lux 7 in the Glove Box just in case!

To me, it seems cheaper just to buy a whole ne computer. It's slow, the computer screen "flashes when viewing the internet, speakers make a static noise when turning up the volume, and the drive now doesn't work.if you computer is a stand desktop computer, then you should be able to replace it. if it'a slimline then it could be harder to replace. likewise if it's a laptop. those slimlines drives are hard to fine.
