Have you tried restarting your computer. I had this one time with mine laptop and tried everything I could think of. Finally my son said try restarting your computer and wala!, it worked!! won't hurt to try. Otherwise maybe it's a loose wire/plug-in somewhere on the CD drive. Or maybe your drive just died.

Or maybe the best thing to do is to unplug your mouse and plug it into a brand new PC. :):)

I assume your Drive E is a Cd/ DVD burner. Have you updated/ changed drivers for the burner. Check to see if you have the latest drivers or if you have recently changed roll back to a previous driver. If you are using Windows XP create a system restore point before you proceed. That way if you stuff anything up you can go back to the present. I had this problem a while back and it was caused by the drivers (usually is). Good luck.

Yes, correct. I tried restoring windows, tried restarting windows, I still can't view any cds.. I heard if you have a dell, you have to do directly to dell, and not off brand. To me, it seems cheaper just to buy a whole ne computer. It's slow, the computer screen "flashes when viewing the internet, speakers make a static noise when turning up the volume, and the drive now doesn't work.

If your PC still meets your needs then replacing the CD/DVR drive is trival and inexpensive. If you are the type who doesn't like to open up the PC box then pick up a new external one with an USB interface...still fairly cheap and a simple plug in and load the supporting s/w to setup...

if you computer is a stand desktop computer, then you should be able to replace it. if it'a slimline then it could be harder to replace. likewise if it's a laptop. those slimlines drives are hard to fine.

Anyway one thing you could try and that it's update the aspi driver on your computer.

I had troubles today where I could see my drive but I couldn't write to it. once I loaded those it worked fine. :D

Hmm, nobody has yet suggested cleaning the CD drive's lens. You can buy CDs that have a little duster on them. Just put it in the drive, let it spin awhile, and that may be all the fix needed.

My suggestion as well. It might take more than one try.
