To me, it certainly is. It's about $2500-3000 too expensive to make sense to me.

Case closed, you have no idea what your talking about

No it's not. But still has a learning curve. Just because you know how to use a camera does not mean each camera will exactly comply completely the same.

Before I used the 1DMKII, i've used just about every Nikon, some FD mount Canon's, EOS 3, many of the digital EOS Canon bodies. Still there was some learning curve.

But then, if you got it all right in your weeks, i feel bad for the guy who then recieved a subpar MKII.

Upgrades on the N are very very small. There was a bigger upgrade on the 30D compared to the 20D than the MKII to the MKIIn.

exactly. i have been shooting birds and wildlife for a year now and i am willing to bet that if you give me the 600mm f4IS prime, i won't be able to take a good shot with it for at least a few weeks. it takes time to learn things. the 600 is a lens just like the 70-200 but it is very different weight, focus speed, technique needed etc..

That's exactly what I'm talking about. What's wrong with you that you have to tease me nonstop? I don't like it, you're not kidding, and it's not "just messing around". It's rude, it's mean, and it's most certainly not welcome. Jesus, man. Not cool.

As for the herons, I found that I just don't have that kind of time to walk around looking for things like that. I don't have time for birding or wildlife shooting.

are you planning to use the sigmonster or the 500 prime for portraits? it is in your wishlist so i guess that you do need it for something... if you do plaan on using it in the studio, you are a brave man just make sure not to give the model a heart attack when you point that huge canon element at her....

You are extremely opinionated about gear, its just funny to read your comments on gear.

And sorry to offend or tease you, I will stop

i did notice that which is why i said "they are on your wish list". i was just wondering why a person who has no interest in wildlife or birding wishes for a sigmonster....

btw, if you feel that i am being rude, let me know. i am just having a conversation but if i cross the line, i will stop.

You're not, Snir. You just misread something, I guess.

It's not that I have no interest in wildlife or birding; I love it. I just don't have enough time for it at the present.

I still don't get how the MKII can't perform while the N can. There no no differences in the processor. That's like saying I see a difference in the 20D and 30D.

I would agree with that although there were some rumblings on the Sportshooter forum a few months back about Canon tweaking the AF on the "N" so as to improve its performance. However, since I have not owned a MkII before, I certainly can not comment on that one.

Another issue is related to getting used to the MkIIN, after using 20D, dRebel etc...It has taken me probably 2-3 months of practically daily use until I had reached the point of sort of "instinctive" camera operation. The challenge is related mostly to using its exposure modes and AF to their full potential. (Some of its controls and interfaces still disagree with me, but there does not seem to be much help there.)

Yeah, I still think 1MkII and 1DMkII N are very capable fast action cameras.
If that's your game, I'd recommend buying a brand new 1DMkII N while you can because their prices have reached a relatively palatable level: e.g. $3,375 at B&H. It stands to reason that in a couple of months that price may drop even further.

If you are serious about the studio, you need a real plan. Customers don't like their photographers being there one day and not having a place to seek more business or printing more shots. It's a matter of having the right set up as well as a proper business plan. Consult with some small business owners as well, Ronald. That's what I did and that's why I'm not quite ready to go pro yet. It's a big commitment. And unlike how you've been having fun with equipment, buying and selling, having a business means keeping books, having proper insurance, licensing, etc. I hope you are prepared for the busywork other than the fun stuff.

The owner of the place is the one with the licenses, etc. He has them already. I'll simply be a technical employee. My gear will soon be on my mother's insurance. As for small business owners, that's all Waverly is, is small business. I have plenty of people I can talk to. I'll be fine, Suzy. Thanks for caring and being considerate. Much appreciated. :-)

I wasn't going to say this, but I will. Getting you out of the house and moving forward is a good thing, Ronald. Maybe you can have an interesting life to chat about after this flies. :)

My 1DMk2 is set for continuous numbering, and shows Folder 100, File 1951. That sure sounds like a lot to me. Do you all think I should dump it and buy Ronald's Mk2N? My Mk2 looks like new, but all those shutter actuations.....:rolleyes: I should probably unload it before it dies.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!
