Well, this thread obviously isn't in my best interest, and it's not helping me any, so I'm out. Thanks for nothin, guys. :-)

To those who were half decent, thanks.

Ron, you bring it on yourself. If it wasn't warranted why would so many be involved? You want everyone to sugar coat it for you? I don't think that is going to happen. Time to realize that you have take responsibility for your actions.

Point is, I never said anything to hurt anyone. I don't recall even picking on anyone. I gave my opinion on a camera, a lens, whatever. Never on a person. I expect the same.

Then perhaps you should be a little more specific when you ask things like this:

What do any of you guys think, without being sarcastic?

We honestly answered, not sarcasticly.

and I'm glad you did. I had not singled anyone out, only noted that many people were obviously sarcastic toward/about me through the duration of this thread, and it is much unappreciated.

It's probably just their way of being funny...I think underneath, there's a boatload of good hearts here that would just like to see you find something that will make you happy...and have a good direction to move in.

the fact that you take this thing so seriously is just amazing to me. so a bunch of complete stranagers were sarcastic and made some "funny" comments and you get all hissy about it.

as for why people are like that, i already told you that in the past. you keep justifing your purchases by spewing nonesense about other products and people don't like that unless you can back it up. so far in this thread, you have managed to put down the 1DsmkII, 1DmkII, the tamron that you have etc..

the last thing i thought about is this: if everytime you "upgrade", people give you a hard time and you hate it, why the hell do you keep updating that signeture of yours?? if it was me, i would simply leave the signeture alone and upgarde to my heart content without anybody knowing it. if you do enjoy the attention that the signeture is getting, i guess you really have no reason to complain..

Where is the obvious sarcasm? I see some honest replies to your statements. See some comments on actual, factual events. Are you out or still here?

Just being honest with the signature, Snir. I think you're right, though. I'm gonna go without for a while.

As for "putting down" those items, I just said they weren't for me, and the cost isn't justified, based on my needs. The Tamron is just simply a poor competitor (I think it's the particular copy) for the L's I've had. I don't expect it to produce gold, but it should be better than it is.

I don't know why I never thought about going without a signature after getting such grief about it. Good idea. ;-)a

People are still talking to me, Dante. I'm civil. I reply.

not in this case you didn't. you straight up talked smack about the 1DsmkII so it really shouldn't come as a surprise to you when people got riled up.

as for the signeture, glad i could help :)

Nah, I didn't. I said it needs a successor before I'd buy it. The current features, to me, don't warrant the extra. People shouldn't get "riled up" about a camera they don't own (except for two that replied).

It just seems really outdated, and reading Canon's page on it felt like reading about the 10D...it needs a successor. It's getting to the point where it costs way more than its worth. To anyone..I'd think.

if all you did was just said that it is not worth it to you like you did in the beggining of the post, everything would have been fine. you decided to add this line which pretty much says t people "i don't own the camera and don't really know much about it but it is not worth the money".

i think that once you clear things up, it is clear that what you mean is personal and based on your own needs. however, you need to be careful in the distinction between stating a personal opinion and passing info that can be taken as fact.

I just say things wrong. I think most understood what I meant, though. They're all personal opinions. Most everything I say here is an opinion. No harm meant, no harm done.

by the way, snir...what the heck? Is your post count going backwards or what? Seems like you post way too much to have such a low count. Weird.
