Hey Ron - if you play your cards right, you can be co-owner of Bubba's Cafe, and actually keep that next 24-70 L! If Dante's been overextending himself making book . . .

So what's the pool up to so far?

I don't want any part of Bubba's, Jon..no worries. I dislike Cali. If someone could just mail me the checks, though, that'd be fine.

Hey, here's an update, and a chance for me to vent. DHL screwed up, and the lady I called said the package is nowhere near New York, and won't be delivered until next week sometime. Mind you, 2-day shipping was used, and it was to be delivered today by 4pm. I'm ultra pi$$ed.

Just like DHL to mess up our little betting thing. :( Sorry, Ronald. I know you were hoping to play all weekend. As for me, you know I think you're crazy to give up your 24-70 so soon. It would rock on the 1DMKIIN. I've been using my 5D with that lens and all my shots are amazing. I find it my dream set up right now, so not switching for a while.

I can't bet, it's not in my nature, but I assume you will like the new camera, but in a little while, get tired of it and want something new. If Canon brings out something interesting this spring, I see Ronald having a good time trying to get it. The next great adventure. :)

I know it, Suzy. Good news is, the guy that traded with me called up DHL the second I told him, and made a real stink about it (as he should have). They said although they can't pinpoint where the package is, as it's between checkpoints, they'll try and get it delivered tomorrow.

I didn't want to give up my 24-70, but rest assured, I'll have another fairly soon. The combo is heavy as sin, though. I remember it on my 1DMkII. Truly a "task" to lift it to your eye. My mother tried, and pretty much couldn't. I don't mind it much, though. If it gives me the advantages it does, it's worth it. Oddly enough, though, with an E1 on, it couldn't be more comfortable, literally dangling by my fingertips.

I don't see myself getting something else as early as spring, though...N isn't old enough, is it? The 1DsMkII should have a successor in the spring, but I don't think the N will. Either way, it'll be out of my budget, I imagine.

I think I'll do well for a while with this. Other than having to upgrade the 28-75, I'm done for the time being. God I was so anxious to get the N, though. I stood outside from 2-4 (it was to be delivered by 4) with my thin jacket and my thumps on, and just waited for that yellow van.

At one time I felt there was still some hope for Ronald. When he got the 400 f/5.6, then I thought "good, he'll have to get his butty out of the house now and possibly get himself a bird, hopefully in more ways than one." Well, it was not meant to be.

Today, it is rather evident that Ronald does not really own most of his listed gear items, whatever that may be from a day to another. Rather, he gives those lenses and cameras a temporary shelter. Caught in a never ending recycling game, the situation appears as some sorta recreational strategy of creative self-inflicted suffering. As a practicioner of such, Ronald transcends Canondyke for sure.

I'd say there is only one possible happy outcome of this photogear merrygoround of Waverly: Ronald gets a job with the B&H Used Department, probably Shipping & Receiving detail.

i remember that. he bought it to go shoot the heron's rookery and sold it like a week later. i do agree that some lenses just don't fit your style so that is understandable.

Say it aint so Ronnie Say it aint so.

Didn't you just say to me that you were not comfortable with a camera worth as much as a 1D MKII and now you got a even more expensive one the MKII N? LOL guy you are nuts but I will pay all my credit cards off and buy it from you when you are ready to sell. But please wait until at least March for me to get things in order.

Seriously though guy I hope this Camera lasts you longer then any of your others. DO NOT SELL IT! Keep if for years and absolutely wear it out. If you hold on to it for 30 months, that is like $100 per month. Not bad at all if you look at it long term. Best of luck.

oh how did I miss this.. truly?.. I got up this morning peeked a look at POTN and then got into some busy housework, went shooting... (pretty, pretty place I live in).. came home. Decided to actually come through with my promise to the boys to bake so a chocolate caramel toffee cake is right now cooling down in my kitchen I decide to visit my friends on POTN and find that we are now betting on when Ron will sell gear he doesn't even have yet?...

I would completely bet but I don't keep good track of Ron's spending.. There were even a few 24-70 L's that I missed completely so i'm just not in a position to determine when he'll sell off his newest body... But, I can always hazard a guess as to what his next camera will be.... I say 5D.. (I would say the next upgraded 5D but he won't keep this one long enough..).. ron the used car salesman of POTN...love ya buddy.. make us all proud!!
