AAAAAAGHHHHHHHHHHHHH IT'S HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERE!

All I can say is...sexy. 8) The guy didn't tell me he put a different focus screen in, which is fine, but I didn't know. It looks brand new and works just dandy.

As for the MKIIN, I'm hoping I really like it. Who knows, though. I'm sure I'll be selling it someday...it's just my nature. I think I'm gonna really like it, though. I was excited about getting my 1DMkII back when, and it was alright, but I was very disappointed in the ISO performance...it seemed worse than the 20D/30D, which I thought was surprising. I also disliked going back to that teeny screen. Just didn't feel right. The MKIIN has a lot of the things I've long since wanted in a camera. We'll see how long it "wows" me. This is the body I've wanted all along, so I imagine I'll really like it. I couldn't afford it, though. Look at it this way...there's nothing to move up to. Should be the end of body switching.

How would ISO performance be different on the N versus the original MKII?

Just judging by the results, grego..that's all. I remember using a 1DMKII taking shots of my niece in July when she was born, using the 100 2.8 macro. The shots were sharp enough, and my exposure was decent, but I'll be darned if those weren't some of the most grainy shots I'd seen. ISO 1600 was used. I used 1600 on my 5D quite an awful lot, and it was pleasant, to say the least. There was noise...but it was minimal.

I'll go for that. I'll also add that if someone else wins the bet, I'll match what's in the pot.

Aw, a teaser...this is just a Petkal focus check frame taken whilst waiting on the "real" action shot.

That does seem odd considering the sensors are the same. All the changes were fairly small with bigger buffer, ability to save formats to 2 diff cards, the screen, pic styles.

I really haven't compared my 30D and 1DMKII, but im sure the diff won't be too diff. I haven't really seen anything to complain about noisewise. Could be your settings, as the 1D does have NR you can turn on or off in the custom functions, or maybe your camera was faulty.

Of course 5D is in another world though.

As for the 1D series, i thought one of your complaints was weight(one of the pros for the 5D, weighing lenss), even though you said it feels good.

Aren't you still waiting for your lens that you ordered somewhere around last Aug? If you order yourself a 1DMkIIN now, you might get it by next year sometime and have your credit card all paid off by the time it arrives ;)

Nope I bought a lens from a guy who conned me and sent me a barely working 300mm f4 IS L back in August. Had it for about 3 weeks and then sent it into Canon where it has been ever since. If the lens wasn't so sharp I would have probably dumped it but when I get it back it literally will be better then a brand new 300 because the parts will be all brand new. They better be since I am shelling out $400 to have the freaking thing fixed.

Still waiting for my 24-70 L though, its been I think 15 days now and I am going nuts!

I don't want it...I've got it. 8)

Yeah, no use trying to convince me of anything. It's my money, and my mind's made up. ;-)a

I'll say that I'm noticing the noise difference between it and the 5D, but I don't mind the white speckles as much, even if there's more of it. One thing that I experienced again tonight, that I did with the 1DMKII and didn't care for was that I thought it was overly difficult to use CF 4-1. The button on the back seems harder to press, and hurts my thumb after a bit. That's the only annoyance so far. Oh, that, and the fact that the jpeg on the SD card isn't erased when I erase the RAW on the CF. I think they should both be erased.

If you've got it and you are happy, that is the main thing...

For me the primary appeal of the 5D lies in the fact I need a true 17mm ultrawide for some of the things I do, and I don't like too much weight. Other than that I would gladly adopt the N... and I did.. just that it's a 1Dinosaur, not an N ;)
