Probably. Why don't you buy memory cards locally? They're pretty cheap, even at brick and mortar stores.

I've purchased a lot of stuff from buy.com. They do not scam even on cameras. I don't know where you got that information but it's false.

Standard speed card, I forget the brand, after MIR. I saw it via Ilikecheapstuff.com a bit ago.

Oh, I thought you meant Sandisk or Ridata. I'll probably have to pass on that. I've heard that My Digital Discount has good buys, though.

It may well have been a brand name, but since it wasn't a high speed I ignored the specifics. :)

I never checked buy.com's ratings but that seems low. I've never had an issue with them. They're pretty fast and reliable. I haven't spent big money there though. Generally inks, papers, smaller electronics, etc.

I kind of lean toward Sandisk products. And I'd hesitate to say anything about compatibility w/o seeing the camera. Mine only takes CF cards.

If your camera takes SD cards, then an SD card will work. Reliability is another issue altogether. I've had no problems with SanDisk and Kingston CF cards, whether standard speed or high speed. I have no experience with other brands.

Is brand really that important? They are just storage devices.. ..
Just bought a g7 and it says sd card, mmc and sdhc card.
So I assume that any sd card, mmc card or sdhc card will go with my toy.. ..

They will. But like I said, reliability is the difference. Some cards just aren't reliable, especially "generic" ones. If what you shoot really isn't that important, go for the cheapest you can find. I shoot weddings though, and I have to minimize the chances of a loss as much as I can, hence sticking to known names with manufacturing integrity and warranties to back it up. Generally speaking, the better the warranty, the better the product. Manufacturers don't usually offer a really long warranty period if they don't have confidence in their product.

The compliance standards may be identical, but the same isn't necessarily true for the manufacturing processes.
