Which memory card can be used for canon g7?
what are the difference b/w a good and a bad card?("it's just a memory card=storage.") That's what I thought. ..

Memory cards come with different speed ratings, these affect how quickly you can write to the card and download from the card to your PC/Mac.

Many people round here use and trust Sandisk Ultra II's and the Extreme III cards, I'm not sure how quickly your camera can write to a card, but for your G7 I'm sure the cheaper Ultra II's will be fine.
There are also good cards made by Lexar and Kingston, just to name two.

Just steer clear of the 'cheapie' unbranded ones is my advice.

Also stay away from ebay...

I use Sandisk Ultra II's in all my Canon's. They will work fine in your G7. You can get 2GB cards now for about $50 at Amazon.com

The SanDisk Ultra II 2 GB cards seem to really be enjoying some price drops this season. Some places are selling them as loss leaders for under $40 if you catch a sale. I have six of them which I use with a 5D for wedding work, and they plenty fast for that type of action; excellent price/performance ration IMHO ;)

Let me note one thing - while brands are remarkably consistent in quality, OP's got a G7, which uses SD and SDHC cards; CF card bargains won't help at all.

So just say sandisk extrem and ultra.
So the difference will be the speed when I transfer my pics to my PC right. Other than that, it will be the same?
OK get my answer.. ..

That bites! The G6 and all the DSLRs can use CF.

Yeah. I know. But smaller cards mean smaller cameras, and the "market" wants smaller cameras, or they'll just use their camera phones. With any luck, the requirement to continue using EF lenses will keep the EOS line safe from this pernicious infection.
