just a quick question if someone can help as you know vey new to this:o , i have been told to set my 10D to these settings when taking pic's of koi (see my avatar), I think i know what it all means except the 14!! what is that and how do I set it .

Flash, in mode ettl
press the centre button on the dial and set the fec value to 2/3

My take is that that means:

ISO 100
f/14 (as in aperture) There is no f/80
1/80 sec. shutter
FEC set at +2/3

are you using a tripod?

thanks for that will get the camera out tonight and have a play ,when i go to shows no, but at work there will be a tripod set, up also looking at seting up some kind of screen over the top
