My sister wantes a digital camera for Christmas. She is not a serious photographer, and just needs a general camera. I think the smaller the better. And the cheaper the better.
Any thoughts on:PowerShot SD700 IS 6.0MP Digital ELPH?

thanks in advance.

Small and cute, but, not exactly cheap. Decent pictures in lower ISO setting, but, gets into noise by ISO 200.

I got stuff for taking pictures. :o When things are unclear - It's time to refocus.

I've heard good things about the SD700. You might also check out one of the A series offerings.

<$300 for a 6mp camera isn't cheap?

noise at 200 might be a problem though.

It's $470 in Canada before taxes. I call that a fair coin. As far as cheap point and shoots go, I'd say that's expensive.

Cheap, go for the A530, I picked one up a few weeks ago for $129. Has all the dummy modes and full manual if she want to experiment.

60D, Canon 18-135 IS, Sigma 10-20 hsm, 24-70 2.8 hsm, 70-200 2.8 hsm, 430EX II, and all the other stuff that goes along with it.
