Hello guys,

So I have a Canon Xti w/a 430 ex flash and want to take my camera along to the clubs with me. I usually go to places like Guvernment where there are no walls or ceilings to bounce the light off of. Can anyone suggest a good diffuser?

I maybe wrong, but I thought a diffuser, like a stofen, is useless without a ceiling to bounce off because the ceiling servers to light most of the subject from the bounced light while the diffuser provides some forward light.

*Mmmm...this post reminds me of the "This boy is out of his depth in a puddle in carpark" quote...but bordom has driven me on.

** I meant me btw :P

I use the Lumiquest Promax system. The inserts and front diffuser allow one to use the system not only indoors (with walls and ceilings for bounce), but also outside. Very light and configurable system.

Riskytrader-

I have been shooting nightlife for magazines, club owners, promoters, and DJs for 6 years. After 2 years of messing with different diffusers I finally let it go and just keep it simple with the flash straight on with no diffuser. I think that the harder light positively compliments the lively energy and passion of a club. Most of the club pictures I see with softly bounced and diffused light smack me of wedding receptions, and it will eat your batteries quicker. I prefer to focus on the capture of pictures with good energy rather than technical perfection.

Off to shoot-
Scott
