Are there some zooms that will fit on the Canon S 2IS like the 100-300 mm 4.5 or others. It doesn't seem like I can get close enough to birds etc. without a zoom of some sort. How is the quality of the lenses?

You can get an auxiliary telephoto lens that will work in combination with your existing zoom, but the S2 IS doesn't allow you to change the basic lens. Canon lists the ones they offer in the back of hte S2 manual; Lensmate is another provider of auxiliary lenses, filters and mounts.

While the S2 does not take any type of SLR lens its lens is much more powerful that the 100-300 you mention. The S2 zoom goes from 36-437mm so you get a greater maginification at 432 than you could ever get at 300. As mentioned LensmateOnLine.com have a huge range of auxilary lenses which can go over 900mm equivalent focal length.

Max
There's no such thing as a bad photo, just the wrong audience.
EQUIPMENT: Canon Powershot S3 IS, 2x Transcend 2GB x150 SD, 2x 4GB Class 4 Dane-Elec SDHC, LensMate 52mm Adapter Tube and lots of stuff to hang on it.
A couple of flashes and a couple of strobes. My other camera is a Sony DSC-P200.
