After seeing all of PetKal's excellent animal macros over the last few days I have been inspired to pursue some myself. This is my first attempt and I know it needs a lot of work, but what do you think?

I'll try some more later...

Wow, lots of fun! I also got this one earlier. I'm going to try to really get in there on those toenails next time!

We all know what a fabulous personality the little dear has!

I just wish she had the looks to match!

Tragic. Just tragic...

Wow, that's way closer to a dog's nose than I've been in a while...

Makes a nice difference from insects! ;) Nothing against insect macros, mind, I do quite enjoy seeing those too :p

And by "nose" you mean that indentation where a nose is supposed to be?

What a cute pug!! I love the shots :)

I have a Boxer, so I love all short snouted dogs lol.

Every time someone tells me how sharp my photos are, I assume that it isn't a very interesting photograph. If it were, they would have more to say. ~Author Unknown

Please do not !
I mean your technique is nothing short of extraterrestrial, and the artistic vison divine, just that your subject is totally dynamically bipolar......that is the mutt is oscillating between UGLY and TRAGIC.

Yes, you are arguably a macro genius, but please, please spare us....find another subject of your rampant macro artistry.:( :(

Lola has some great pattern in her fur. how about you fill the frame with an interesting inch or two... not saying that the nose ilocation ndetation isn't lovely, but I think you can challenge your artistic vision and technique in another fashion. Texture may be the way to go.

Thanks, Webby, for joining Pet in exploring a brand new realm. If I could get a duck to hold still for me, I'd be trying light and texture shots too. They are not quite as still as a plucked flower though, and there in lies my challenge. :)

Ah, see, now you've discovered one of the difficult aspects of macro photography. When focusing the lens, particularily on MF, it's imporant to be aware of how close the front lens elements are getting to the subject. Here, obviously, you totally mashed in the face of this poor dog with your lens. Better luck next time...

Looks like Webby blinded the mutt with his flash.
Now, on top of her other problems, she'll need prescription glasses.
