I find that approaching festivals it's important to keep an open mind and usually there is one, or more, act(s) that surprise me and I end up liking. I'm glad that you can shoot at TMV at BDO but don't be surprised if they spring the release at you at the last second. At Bonnaroo a PR rep was there to review the releases and make sure nobody who didn't sign it got in for the set...including some of the very top concert photographers in the business. That might not happen because they are out of the US, where Nasty Little Man is based.

The publicist here is someone decent to work with and took a very professional approach. I did actually contemplate modifying the release as it was a Word document and putting in a few clauses/terms of my own. I wonder how that would stack up legally...

The release won't be coming out tomorrow.

You could take just one good photo and about 500 absolute crap ones.

the release is only good for 2 songs, and House of Blues does not typically allow shooting from outside the barricade.

i think i'm gonna pass on this one.

I am saddened to hear about all these issues for shooting by others. As I've said before, I don't feel that I have an option when it comes to signing releases as the casino pays me very well week after week, although anything that says someone else owns the pictures can't be signed without modification because I am shooting for the casino.

Anyway, I am shooting Sugar Ray on Thursday.

Wife's out of town, local music bonanza for me this weekend:

Tonight - Wooden Satellites
Sat 2pm - Mark Hutchins (in store)
Sat 8pm - Mark Hutchins at OLG Studio
Sat late - End Times Spasm Band / John the Savage

...well, I still have to check the riders to make sure that the photog is on for free PBR.

Oh, yes, I know! I think you did the right thing! I wish we were all in a position to do that as was appropriate and then they'd stop all this shooting rules and releases crap and allow us to do our jobs properly, sigh. My comment was in complete support of your position.

That's pretty awesome. I was going to try to shoot Richie Havens tomorrow but his rider says no photography. Like what...it's Richie Havens. Oh well, the promoter still put me on the guest list.

Hehehe, yeah, what with the RIAA killing sales and the talent killing PR it won't be long before they'll be wanting a bailout but nobody'll know who they are!

I was referring to it, but in a supportive way! Geez, you guys gotta' ALWAYS assume I am with you, not against you, when interpreting my comments.
