Furthur last weekend, The Black Eyed Peas on Friday

I've got BEP in March, could you shoot me some specs on how it went shooting for them? Were they stage-side or soundboard approvals? Anything weird beyond the 3-song? How's the lighting? Etc.

EoDM is Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme (and other random people)...it grew out of the Dessert Sessions I believe.

EoDM is Jesse's vehicle - Josh Homme does collaborate a bit with them but he isn't part of the touring band. Just a great fun rock n roll band. I shot Jesse solo in a small bar on Thursday night. Good fun.

It's 2 1/2 songs of the Peas and you can shoot the first three of LMFAO and Ludacris. I started at the foot of the stage then went to the end of the catwalk. Lots of light and lots of ability to move around for the shots you want.

2.5 songs? that's pretty arbitrary. did security have a stopwatch?

looked like loads of light, though. also looked like a fun show to shoot, as long as my earplugs were jammed in far enough.

We were told 2.5 songs was what the tour manager requested, and midway through the second song he tapped me on the shoulder. Togs on the other side of the stage probably got to finish that song, but I was closest to the exit at that point and was pulled out first. I was at f7.1 for some of it!

I have Boyz II Men Thursday. At my venue, I am the guy who has to drag the other togs away. My two regulars are easy ... I just tell them the rules and it's done. But there are the occasional togs who just want to shoot and shoot and will keep shooting as I have security drag them away! They get a warning and if they do it again, they don't get back in for future events. I don't make up the rules but I damn sure enforce them since not doing so will have adverse impacts on what I will be allowed to do in the future. FYI: for 99% of the concerts I shoot under the same restrictions as the media people. Interesting note: the security (we don't have any of those hefty guys in "Security" shirts ... we have guys in suits with guns!) guys default rule is that when I stop shooting, everybody stops shooting. LOL. But sometimes the shooters know to "hide" and I have to intervene. Not often ... maybe once or twice a year.

great set of shows, certainly up my alley.

the 1st Boston show for the Shjips had lighting so bad i kept my camera in my bag, and didn't want to bother them w/ flash.

Pavement is gonna be playing a freakin' basketball arena here...weird! i first saw them (the only time i saw them) was their first east coast tour, and they played the upstairs @ the Middle East, capacity then of about 100 (they've since moved the tables out).

I thought they'd be up your alley Tim. Doesn't look like I got The Prodigy tonight though (hopefully I'll have a pass for a festival show they do on Sunday).
