Super cool photo. I wish I had access to these kinds of shots. Great work. I love the heat lines in the sunset from the jets.

That's a nice one! If you shot raw, it's easy to tone down the hot sky at the top with this: Use a Layer Mask to selectivly lighten/darken part of a pic. It's easily reversible: Airport runway shoot
You can do it with a jpg too, but it's not as nice a result.

Or with a bit more work, you can just put in the sky you want: Mustang & B-17 + PS

Nice shot, I would probably crop some of the bottom out to get the plane lower in the frame.

thanks alot for the comments. i have good access to these jets, so i have many chances to practice.

I have a whole series of sunset shots, but i like this one quite a bit.

i messed around with darkening the hot part of the sky, but i never really nailed it.

(edit) it looks really sharop in an 8x10 frame, too.

Can be done, but not easy with a blown jpg. You'd have to clone "good" sky to a 2nd layer & then blend it. Shots like this are why I always shoot RAW. And shots like this: Why I love RAW - '53 Ford Sunliner

That is an idea, I do have about 30 shots of sky during that same sunset. I shoot all raw+large JPG then ditch the raws after i cull through the garbage, and process the larges. I fear i have probably dumped this raw by now.

I shoot like a maniac, and absolutely despise all the work that goes into doing one raw conversion (i'm still very slow).

I am not as quality driven as some people, i just like taking lots of pics. One day, ill be able to go out and shoot 10 RAWs and nail 8 of them from an artistc standpoint... but for now it takes me 10 jpgs just to get it framed right, lolz :(

thx again, i will practice shooting less and thinking more. That is definately something i've been wanting to do for a long time.
