hi, wasn't sure where to put this post.
the problem is the the little d pad between the 2 buttons on the touchpad. the d pad is used for scrolling websites but has decided recently to stop working. i thought it may be that i disabled the touch pad but thats not the problem.
anyone else had this problem. hope this makes sense

if its not disabled in the control pannel or anything like that... And you already tried re-booting and things of that nature. I assumed you tried different website and maybe you want to try re-installing the drivers for teh system board.

If all that fails, its probably a hardware issues, and you might want to call acer.

I had my left trackpad mouse button fail on my IBM Thinkpad and they overnighted me another palm rest assembly. Replaced all my buttons.

bought it about a year and a half ago brand new.
well i tried reinstalling the touchpad drivers but still nothing. i may try reinstalling the mobo drivers and see if that works. ive heard this has happened to a few folk. its not too annoying but it was good having the scroller right next to the touchpad.

I have the Aspire 3000. I have both IE and Firefox and it won't work with Firefox so I got used to the scroll on the attached mouse.
IE has plenty of security issues so you need to keep it up-to-date.
There is the new IE 7 (which I am using now) that has been improved quite well, specially for security.

I would definitely upgrade and try that before blaming the ACER.

I'll keep an eye out for your results and see where to go from there.
Good luck!

I have an acer travel mate and the mouse pad sometimes disables itself. I just click on the mouse pad logo and then click apply with out changing any settings and it works again. Dont know why it does it but the apply button always sorts mine out. Hope you get it sorted soon.

Update: I am using the ie7 and it works fine
