Hello. I was wondering if there is a lead which would allow the transfer of pictures taken on a Canon 350d, to a 30gb Ipod Video. Not sure if it exists but it would be mighty useful if memory on the card(s) had ran out.
Thanks.

Apple has one:

Just be aware that the connector above is a USB 1 device, not USB 2, so the image transfer is going to be painfully slow. If you do a search on "ipod" in this forum (Accessories and Storage), you'll find several past discussions about using the iPod as a storage device.

you'll run out of battery before you completely empty a card. I stand alone PSD device or cheep laptop is a better alternative for in the field. Plus the adapter for the ipod is $100.

Apple camera connector is $29

Works perfectly, but yes it is slow.

Spinning the hard drive on the iPod does run down the batteries.

I use it when travelling for back-up, but not when at home.

Mike, what camera are you using it with? Do you know if it works on the 300d?

I have an iPod and when I researched this it just is not a great way to go. First of all, the transfer is incredibly slow so it's not practical when you need to dump and shoot again. I'm not sure if it will transfer RAW files but it has no way to display them if that is a concern. Then you have to consider battery life. The iPod has reasonable battery life in normal use but you'll suck that battery dry if you're dumping a few Gig. I think it makes more sense to look at other portable storage or carry a laptop.
