How often do you normally need to clean the sensor.

I am starting to see some round spots on shots of blue sky....SENSOR DUST???

Anyone got link to instructions on how to clean?

Does cleaing your self void warranty???

Does Canon suggest having done professionally.

I clean my sensor about every 4-6 months, mainly because most of my lens changes are in a pretty clean environment. Also, I only clean it when it's too much of a bother to clone out the spots in PS.

Cleaning the sensor yourself will not void the warranty. However, if you damage the camera as you are cleaning it (for example, scratching the sensor or getting fluid under the AA filter), then it would not be covered under warranty.

Canon gives you the instructions for cleaning it with a bulb blower right in their manual, which tells me that they feel this is a routine that the user should be doing. AFIK Canon does not advise customers to use the wet method even though it's probably what they do when you send it in to them.

In many cases...just blowing the dust off the sensor will solve most of your problems. Wet cleaning may become necessary in extreme cases....it isn't hard to do...a search for sensor cleaning will turn up tons of info.

I clean my sensor myself as well. I frequently change my lenses depending on the situation at hand. There is no doubt in my mind that when I'm shooting in windy conditions I will most definitely get dust on my sensor. So for me cleaning is more frequent.

Buy yourself a Giottos rocket blower and follow the instructions to blow the sensor with it.
Canon recommends a blower, it will not void your warranty.
The liquid cleaners should only be used when the dirt problem gets really serious (mud, coffe, spit, don't wanna think further).
