What were you doing in my city? lol jokes - awesome shot! nice one- it's weird you live in a place and you can bet visitors see more of it in a day than you do in a year lol! have been to the castle a couple of times but will need to go again with the camera! that is a nice shot- you didn't by any chance get any overlooking the city? just would love to see them if you did...

That's an interesting angle, and obviously the Tattoo scaffolding must be down now. With the near and far sections being out of focus, the castle has that "model" look to it. Was this your intention?

Richard, I've posted a few threads on Edinburgh in the past, and here are some that overlook the city:

I've also got other Edinburgh threads, and indeed if you search on Edinburgh there are piles of threads from other posters too.

I think the composition is good with the wall lead in, the angle, and the background segregated by DOF. However, to me it seems too contrasty, and some of the darker areas are black, lacking detail. /Dan

Thanks. I live in Glasgow but my girlfriend is from the States so every time she has visitors, we head over to show them the sights and of course, the castle. I got a few shots from the castle overlooking the city which I'll stitch into a panoramic at some point.

I was actually just messing around in Photoshop and when I did this I thought it looked pretty cool, and yeah, it did kind of remind me of those "model" shots people had posted before.

I know what you mean, especially along the top of the castle, right? Yeah, I did ramp the contrast up and it seems to have been a wee bit much in places. But thanks for your comments.
