I've had it for about 2 months just trying to learn it and I was really loving it until yesterday and all of a sudden the LCD monitor wouldn't turn on.
I changed the batteries - twice
I read thru the manuals - staying up til after 1am:rolleyes:
And on several instructions it would say : Turn on the LCD Monitor...but I could never find out how...

And of course today is Sunday and the Canon Help line is closed...sigh.

So thanks to any one for help:D

OK now I'm really in a snit. I've made several phone calls to Canon to see what is going on with the camera. I've talked with several people and they all give me a different answer...grrr.

I've been told the following:
If this hadn't happend during the xmas season they would have just shipped me a new one but it was quicker to repair.
I've been told that it's done (that was today) and would ship via FED EX then I said I had explained LAST week that I would prefer a different method as I live in a rural area and they won't leave a package. No prob they said. Now I've been told by someone else today that it's not fixed as I was first told and they will ONLY ship FED EX and I'm sol on that...and it won't ship until next week at the earliest even tho I was told it was repaired...I get a different answere every time I talk with someone else.

Has anyone else had probs with Canon? So far I'm very displeased. First the camera breaks after owning it for less than 2 months, now I'm getting the run around about the repairs and when it will be done.

I had the PowerShot a540 at one point. My screen just went black one day, too. I called Canon and they had me send it back for repair. It was about 3 months out of warranty, so I would be responsible for the cost. They told me about the refurb'd upgrade program where you can get a newer model re-furbished camera for about the same cost of the repairs. That's just what I did. I have the PowerShot a610 now and love it. I've had it about a year now and haven't had any problems. I've since bought 2 new Canon products. One digital SLR and a digital camcorder. I'm still a canon man.

Thanks, but since I just bought my Camera on 10/22/06...It'd be nice if they'd just send me a new one.
