Triple Planetary Conjunction

Took this morning over the mountains of Twentynine Palms Ca. It is a rare triple planetary conjunction of Jupiter, Mars, and Mercury. The next Triple conjunction of bright planets will be around 2029. Both are the same images with one having lables. Taken at 200mm, ISO 200, 1.6sec, f/7.1.

Nice! We had rain move in last night, so my plan to get out this morning to capture this got washed out.

As a person who studied variable stars and at one time wanted to become an astronomer, I find this interesting. Thanks for posting it. As a space nut, it's too bad you were not on the east coast last night. The space shuttle flying up the coast was awesome! /Dan

Interesting shots Rick, but thank you for including details as to which sensor blob was which planet. If I had taken that, I would have cloned the "dust" out. :shock: :lol:
