for my sig. other who is New to DSLRs but a very very avid shooter...He has 30d, 70-200 2.8L IS, 17-55 something or other and 50 1.8 something ...he mentioned needing "stuff" for his "stuff"...something about a flash; filters; and ballhead tripod; and shutter releasers or something.
I don't know what to get. If you might have suggestions I'd be so appreciative.
Maybe approximate prices as well... up to about $500??? maybe a bit more???
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
ps is AMAZON.com good to get these things at???
sid.

If you just have no idea and he can't help you more or make a list for you, then I'm gonna give you a list.

Bogen 3021 BPRO (tripod legs)
488RC2 ballhead (ballhead,)
RS-80N3 Remote ("shutter releaser something")
430EX Speedlite (flash)

That'll put you right about $500.

Here...I made it easier. Here's everything, and at the best place to buy from. Just click "purchase this wish list" at the top, and you'll be all set.

Flash: 580EX or 430EX, depending on your budget
Tripod: Bogen/Manfrotto is a good brand
Filters: I'd skip this unless he was more specific. There are all sorts of sizes and types.

Amazon isn't a bad place. I get gear from them all the time. Right now you need to be concerned with a place that can guarantee pre- Xmas delivery. Good luck.

I'll second what Ron said..........

If you are willing to spend a little more.

upgrade the flash from a 430 to the 580.

Or keep the 430 and get a cir pol filter for his 70-200 (77mm)

Instead of blowing money on a Canon 580 flash, get him two Sigma EF-500 DG Supers (be sure to get the Canon version, though). Two flashes for less than the price of one, and he'll have way more than twice the lighting flexibility.

All I want is a 10-2000 f/0.5L with no distortion that weighs 100 grams, fits in my pocket, and costs $300. Is that too much to ask?
