What is the setup I need?

I'm switching over fromm Nikon, and what is the basic equipment I need?

I shoot sports alot, and am trying to move into a wider range of photography.

I have a D70, SB-800 flash, a 18-70 lens, a 80-200 lens, and an extra SB-600 flash. I'm also looking to add a quality monopod to my equipment since i just had mine broken. (got it hit and crushed by a football player while it was leaning up on a bench).

Please help.

I do weddings with a 5D because of the FF sensor, but this is probably not the best choice for sports. It only does 3FPS. You'd probably be better with at least one of the crop sensor cameras like at least the 30D for the longer telephoto "reach" and it's faster frame rate.

For a good zoom, in your current range, they don't come too much better than at least the 70-200 f/2.8 IS L. But there are far more knowledgeable sports folks here than I, and you'll be seeing there posts here soon. - Stu

I don't think you'll need the pod with the 80-200 lens for motorsports. It will just get in your way. For very heavy glass, you'll probably want one though.
