The exact link of my image is
http://l.yimg.com …00-7645-7328-4_020111.jpg (external link)

I'm sure there is no copyright violation. Afterall it's just a drawing and we're not using it in any comercial way ;)

Later edit
I think it will be usefull to draw an arrow with text for the focus screen ;)

Commercial or not doesn't affect copyright. Nor does "just a drawing". Use without their permission is copyright violation. The extent of liability depends on a number of factors, including the nature of the abuse, whether the image was formally registered, and the impact of the non-compliant use on the owner.

So as to avoid possible controversy and/or any infringment caused by not properly attributing credits to the source, I have removed my colorized rendition of the SLR details.

And the original drawing is now annotated.

I can understand the focusing screen and mirror, but why the pentaprism?

The underside of the pentaprism opposite the top of the focusing screen is another place where dust in the viewfinder might hide. I don't know how delicate that component might be.

I would suggest adding a test to see how much force to abrade the transparent cover over the sensor, and perhaps even a test to see how much force it takes to shatter the sensor itself!

Excellent idea!

OK, can I borrow (steal) your illustration, color it to suit my narrative, and incorporate it in (with credit to you for the drawing)?

Yip, dust is the only part of digital photography that really pains me......at least it did. It takes time, but cleaning the sensor get's easier the more you practice, and it used to take me half an hour......I can not clean in in a few mins with a sensor brush.

Bit like having to shave.......tis a pain, but just something you learn to live with.
