Canon's new bag...

I gotta say, the Pro1 is high up on my list now to replace my G3. I thought I'd be pining for Nikon's new 8700, but compared to the Pro1, the 8700 mostly seems to be a 5700 with an 8 MP sensor. I mean, it's still a nice camera, but I can't resist a good Canon. I can't wait for a review.

On the other hand, I'm surprised Canon decided to make the S1 a little "lower" in spec compared to the G3/G5. The coolest thing the S1 does is the unlimited VGA movie, but other than that it's more cash for fewer pixels. Canon certainly drew a big line between their prosumer models this time around.

Pro1 is nice but I'd hoped Canon would put in VGA 640 x 480, 30fps video and an IS lens.

It's cool to see all those new cameras being introduced. But what about the prices on those cameras? Are they priced reasonably? If they are too expensive, then I won't have the dough to buy them except to salivate.

Prices...

The prices are as follows, according to what I've seen:

Elph SD110 = $300 US
Elph S410 = $350-400 US
Elph S500 = $500 US
Powershot A75 = $300-350 US
Powershot S1 IS = $500 US
Powershot Pro1 = $1000 US

and lastly,

EOS 1D Mark II = $BANKLOAD US
