Hello...
I recently purchased a SD800 IS, which is my first Canon camera. While I'm loving it so far, I'm having some issues trying to transfer pics to my computer. I'm currently running XP Service Pack 2.

The problem that I'm having is that CameraWindow is completely unresponsive. If I select it with the prompt that I get when I plug in the camera, nothing happens. If I try to manually start the program, again nothing at all happens. ZoomBrowser seems to work just fine.

I've installed everything for the transfer process verbatim from the manual. In fact, I've already reinstalled twice thinking that may be the problem. I've followed the directions very closely to try to rule out a conscious error on my end, but keep getting the same (lack of) result. At this point, I'm at a complete loss.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Look in the event viewer for any errors of services that cannot start. I had the same symptoms, the problems ended up being a missing CALMAIN.exe. I solved the issue by copying the file from another computer.

Mike

I had the same problem!

When I tried to start Canon Camera Access Library 8 it said the file was missing. The event viewer said that "The system cannot find the file specified."

On the installation CD that came with my camera I found CALMAIN.EXE here - D:\SOFTWARE\CAL\COMMON\COMMON.CAB I then exracted the file and saved it to C:\Program Files\Canon\CAL

CameraWindow now works!
