I took this shot of a ruin which is an area that I am becoming interested in, and decided to convert the shot to Greyscale. What are your thoughts on this please.

Nice shot. If it was me, and its not:D , I would do one of two things.

1. With the image as it is, I would try and get a bit more contrast into the clouds.

2. Crop the image to remove the clouds.

Thats only my opinion but it may be worth giving it a try.

Thanks for you thoughts JuSlaughter, I think I will have a go at cropping out some of the sky as you suggest. :)

Velocity, I had a quick go bu may have overdone the burning. Looks kind of mythical now, I imagine a greek god to throw lightening bolts from the sky:D

The sky looks better in JuSlaughter's edited version, but as you said, the foreground is a bit overdone. Maybe just a light touch of added contrast and/or curves would work better? I'm no expert, but how is this?

Photographs are records of life. Pity they don't make music when you put them in a record player. :p

Thanks all for looking and taking the time to leave comments. Also thanks Elisabeth-Ann and JuSlaughter for showing me your ideas on how to improve the shot, this is much appreciated. :)

No problem, we are all here to learn. By the way, where was the photo taken?

This was taken close to the Santos Vinyard/Winery on the greek island Santorini.

Agree about the sky, moody , broody clouds would suite this a treat.
Next time, try exposing for the sky (and bracket your exposures), it's easier to pull back midtones and shadows (of the building) than put back detail that's not there (sky)
