Hello VicS;
What a beautiful posed shot...
Looks to be just a tad of burn-out on the body, but I think you've got a good shot there...
Well done;
Cheers;
Lee

Beautiful wing spread and very good eye contact. Just a bit hot on the body though, may I suggest when shooting these kinds of birds, use either partial or spot metering and compensate EV between -1/3 and -2/3.

Best regards - Reyno

thanks lkb-28 and Reyno.

Maybe I should have given my EXIF data:
Camera used: Canon 20D
Lens used: 100-400L IS USM @ 400mm
Metering: Evaluative
Shutter: 1/3000
Aperture: f6.7
Camera mode: Av
Exposure Compensation: -1/2
ISO speed: 400
White Balance: Auto
AF Mode: Servo

I am deffinately going to try partial or spot metering as this has been a question from me recently as to which modes to use when ... I just don't really understand them yet :(

Not bad a shot at all! I like the underwing details. Composition is good with the wings stretching to opposite corners of the frame. There are some hot spots on the body, but they don't look like they are overblown...there is surely some data in there waiting to be pulled out.

You see, one day I will be able to understand photos like this. I just don't understand how you guys do it.
