I have a Canon Pixma 8500 eight color printer. Canon has not exactly knocked themselves out providing papers for this printer. Has anyone tried other papers with good results? Which ones?

I generally use Epson Premium Glossy Paper. Though not the best, I find the quality quite good for little money. A lot cheaper than the Canon papers.

I got stuff for taking pictures. :o When things are unclear - It's time to refocus.

Thanks for letting me know. What media setting do you use? Do you set it for one of the Canon papers or do you use the "other" setting?

I remember reading a post a while back saying that Ilford worked good in the Canon. I believe it was Ilford Classic Pearl. As an 8500 owner I'm interested too.

Ilford paper seems to get rave reviews. The classic pearl or smooth peral are the most recomended. They have profiles for your printer and paper you can download from their site. Also Redriver paper has mentioned as one to try. Let us know how you like them.

Thanks everyone, The Ilford papers are sold at a photo shop near my house. I'll start with them and after some trial and error I will let you know how they worked.

I have had good luck with Ilford, but on my own Canon printer (6 of the 8 colors you are using, but the same inks) I find that the "smooth" works much better than the "classic"

And of course Canon works great.
