Paintball Pics

This is only my second attempt at shooting paintball, so be kind, but any suggestions/tips are VERY much welcomed! They were all handheld with my 24-60F2.8 @ ISO 1600. The indoor field has terrible lighting. It was a tournament and i came unannounced so i had to do some persuading to get onto the field, and unfortunately the head ref would only let me stand in 1 area so i couldnt move much. These are MUCH better than my first.

Its here in Denver CO. Theres not many outdoor fields here anymore and this particuar field is the brightest of the indoors(which isnt saying much, theres fields i wont even play on since its so dark). Theres a new indoor field opening soon and they're promising BRIGHT fields, so hopefully theyll produce!

Ya I was hoping to capture more action, but that field plays very strange, i have played it many times, and almost nobody takes that snake on the break and people rarely move, its definately a gunfighting field, and like i said the head ref would only let me stand in that one area. I saw tons of great opportunities for good action shots but they were all out of range of the 24-60 and its WAY too dark in there for the 70-200F4L Im going back for a practice this weekend and Ill be allowed to move freely so hopefully things get more interesting! Thanks for the tip!

Any of you with more experience(obey, paintballphotography, etc) have any tips for me on composition etc???

I think the composition could be better if you could have moved around the field. But since you were limited to that one area..(I've never heard of that before) you were limited as to what you could do. Usually the snake is the best place to take pictures because there is usually a TON of action there, but, like you said, the field plays differently so there may have not been much use for the snake.

I also think that a little less space around the edges and more focused on the players, like in two and seven, should be used with all of the photos.

ya really the only purpose for the snake on that setup is to shoot the corner out, other than that, its pretty much a dead bunker. lame! Ive never had a ref tell me i couldnt move around, but he was kind of new, and doesnt know me. He kept asking if i was helping teams and telling me hed kick me out if i did. pretty odd. I will remember the focused thing for next time!

I just picked up a 50/1.8 just for this place. Ive had times where i thought my compositions needed work, and limiting myself to a prime usualy helps me stay focused on composition. plus id rather get shot in a 80 dollar lens over a 500 dollar one!
