Another impromptu shoot for a friend with another fairly uncommon vehicle. Too much sun unfortunately, but I think they came out halfway decent. C&C welcome as always.

There's an interesting quality to the lighting in these pictures. Would you mind saying what kind of PP work you've done on these pictures?

They look great.

I love the styling of the XLR. The V just builds on it and you've captured the beauty of a not-made-for-old-people Cadillac.

Thanks kindly!

ArenGH: Among the other standard adjustments during the RAW conversion, I used a color stylizer filter in CS2 to give it a sort of monotone print feel.

2nd photo is very nice.

I like it a lot. Nice processing and lighting on these.

Nice ride, & I'm sort of liking them, but they're just a little unnatural for me. They'd make a great poster, though.

Geeez! Yesterday you said,"These pictures are for sharing and showing off right?, not critique." Today you come out with this.
I've left a message for you in the other thread. Be sure to read it.

No big deal Photosguy, I have tough skin. ;) Thanks for the compliments and criticism all.

Soniczoom: This was a very impromptu shoot. The location, while not ideal for a studio level shoot, was the best that could be hoped for in the limited time frame allowed and without driving all over the place. Not my car....couldn't ask the owner to spend 45 minutes driving around and testing light looking for an ideal spot. Please also note that it was about 20 degrees out at the time....not the best condition to shoot in. Sorry you don't like the post technique I used, but to each his own. I thought it really added depth to the paint and created a different mood. Here is a "normal" version:

We only see the results. I didn't know your time was short, and you had to take quick snap shots in 20 degree weather. For all i know this could of been a well efforted shoot. So sorry to critique you for pictures that aren't at your full potential.

I do like the warmer feel of your post work in the first 2 car pictures, however you're shooting too dark and loosing a lot of detail in the tires and dark spots on the car. If I saw this car for the first time, I wouldn't know where teh front bumper ends, and the pavement begins. It's better to overexpose than underexpose (if any) when shooting digital.

The reflections are off the chart in the first car pic. very very distracting, and the lines of the car get lost. The 2nd pic is much more pleasing. The reflections are reduced, and the car is more prominent. But yet again, the location isn't ideal.

I'm not sure that these comments are an improvment in your attitude, especially the "So sorry" & "aren't at your full potential" parts? It's reading like, "No, I'm really not sorry. I'm a better shooter than you are & your work is crap?"

As I suggested before, if you have a burning desire to critique, we have a dedicated forum for that. Keep your comments there helpful, & lose the attitude, or we'll be talking again on the subject.

As for the other "Share" forums like this one, "informed" helpful advice is also appreciated, but not mandatory. If you can post a link to illustrate an example of what you're talking about, that's appreciated, too.

Otherwise...

Exactly why I said "impromptu" in the very first post. Thought I had made that clear.

Thanks, but I can clearly make out tire tread and that there is writing on the sidewall. What more detail should there be? Keep in mind also that the posting limitations on this forum, and rendering on the web, force us all to post lower quality images with a loss of detail. I think you should honestly check your monitor settings.....I can clearly see where the bumper ends and even that there is an underbody spoiler on the front of the car.

To each his own. I personally am quite tired of seeing featureless, over polarized, no reflection, unrealistic car photos. Are the reflections a bit too much? Yes....as I said in the OP....the light was less than ideal. And I get it already......you don't like parking lots.

I really like the photoshop work you did to get that type of tone. I agree that it really changes the mood of the photo; I like it a lot. My only gripes are the reflections in the second shot, but people you've heard enough about that already so there's no need to go on. My one suggestion is that you could photoshop the lines out in photoshop, they are somewhat distracting and if they were removed it'd take away that parking lot feel.

For a quicker shoot you got some very nice results. Also, is that your car? If so, what a beast

Thank you for the input!

Nope, not my ride. Belongs to a friend of mine. Very interested to see what she will do once broken in. ;)
