Hello everyone, Im planning to go to a San Jose Sharks hockey game on thursday and I just read that still cameras are premitted but are limited to a 6" lens. Im trying to get my 70-200 in but im not sure if it will work.. Has anyone been succesful with this lens?? Do they actually measure the lens or just do a visual inspection?? Thanks for any info..

They'll measure it. Most are rather strict, too. 6.5" is out. ;-)a The 70-200 L IS is 7.7", but "appears" longer, I think. I think you'd be lucky to get it in.

Thanks I was hoping for someone just to say "Maybe you can". But I guess it's better to leave it at home then having to leave it in the truck (never know where i'll find parking).

Thanks

Maybe you could just call ahead and ask if an extra inch would be a problem, and get some kind of "pre-approval". I would hate to have to leave it in the car, or to have to go back to the car.

Just as an update I chanced it and took the 70-200 f2.8L. I made it through security with no problems, I just had to flashed security the contents and they let me in. I don't know if i'll make it in every time but tonight I did.

As an FYI to this thread; the LA Kings will NOT let in cameras with removable lenses. I've tried twice; with the second time going in to a "box" through the "special entrance". I had to check it both times; even when I only had the nifty 50 on it.

The ONLY camera I have been successful in getting into the Kings is my G2 (And 5 batteries...)
