Here are a few shots from my first try at an indoor sport. I picked up the 85mm f1.8 for just this purpose. I also shot some with the 50mm f1.8. I shot these in JPEG because that is what my client wants, and I did not have time to PP before I turned over the files. These shots have since been edited. My main concern is with WB, which I guess I could address if I had RAW files to work with. Also, should I consider Noise Ninja to help with the effects of ISO 800??? Any tips to help me improve on these??? Has anyone had any success using flash in these situations?? Thanks. John

this is a good example of when custom whitebalance will be most helpful, even though normal gym lights will still vary depending on the part of the cycle they are on. looks good to me though, and no noise reduction software is against the point most of the time... i like my images looking nice and film like (after normal post processing of slightly overexposed images, the noise looks more like grain). there's nothing bad in a bit of noise unless your client specifies otherwise...

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

Thanks Basroil....You are right about the lights cycling, 2 consecutive shots can end up looking totally different from each other.......
