Hello All , I am new to this DSLR stuff , I have spoken to friends about this . I know what they do so there is no problem there just should I get both or just one or the other for now till I get used to camera . A UV filter or a CPL Polarizer filter . I have a Canon 400d with the kit lens EF-S 18 - 55mm . Help and commments appreciated ..

Go for the CPL mate :)

What with the nice sunny skies you get over there they'll cut out a lot of the haze and bring life to your fluffy clouds.

UV is mainly for protecting the lens from scratches
CPL will take away glare on glass and many things that will reflect light.

Id say go for the CPL,I love mine.

i like hoyas.I have a Hoya CPL on my kit lens right now and I love it.There are better brands like B&H but youre lookin at big money for that brand.Hoyas arent too expensive, depending on what size youd need. What size are you lookin for?

Defo go for CPL, if you are a little protective like me then when you get a decent lens, get a protection filter at the same time.

I used to have a normal Hoya CPL and when I tried my friends £150 GBP S-HMC Pro-1 Hoya CPL, I got rid of my cheapo one and got the Pro-1! Imported of course! I mean come on! £150 GBP is about $270 US and you can get a decent prime lens for that!!!! Sheesh! ;-)a
