I wanted the Tamrac 5256 (Cyberpack 6) but was leary that it may be too big.
If anyone knows if the Cyberpack 6 can be carried on in addition to the Pelican 1510, please let me know.
Thanks
I used to carry on my Cyberpack 6 along with another carryon of equipment, but have since stopped and consolidated because I got hassled on EVERY flight for the Cyberpack and had to talk my way onto every flight. It was more trouble than it was worth.
The reason is that they really want ONE carryon bag and ONE "personal" item, which is NOT supposed to be the normal carryon size. Its supposed to be a laptop, a purse, a SMALL camera bag, etc. So I had to always try to convince them that the Cyberpack was my laptop AND a camera bag and usually after 5 minutes or more of "convincing" would get on.
Also, technically the Cyberpack is NOT carryon size. Its too deep. Carryon size is only 9 inches deep and the Cyberpack is deeper than that so it wont fit into one of those bins if they make you try. It will however, fit just fine under a seat or in the overhead of a normal plane. All bets are off when you have use a regional jet or prop plane.
Now I use a Think Tank Airport Addicted backpack or Airport Security roller and their Airport check-in laptop bag. I can fit all essential camera gear in the backpack or roller and they are both carryon sized, and then all my laptop and cords, chargers, etc, in the laptop bag. I dont get hassled any longer except on international flights where they might weigh the bag as they have much lower weight limits for carryon gear and my bag weighs twice the legal limit. I just try to wear it and make it LOOK light and dont usually get asked about weight.
Good Luck.
