Hey everyone! Ny name is Dan and I just bought my first DSLR. After my trusty Sony F717 died, I decided it was time to get some better gear. I decided on the Rebel XTI because of its lense selection, comfy size and its ability to clean the sensor.
I work as a dispatcher for a few local police/fire departments. For fun, I am very active in model trains, and cars. Model trains was the reason why I got into photography in the first place, wanting to share tips and tricks with others.
Right now, I am finding it difficult to get quality photos of my models. I am so used to my old Sony, it is like trying to re-learn everything. I quickly learned that the kit lense was virtually useless with close range shooting and got myself the 50mm Macro. This is great for detail shots, but not that good for model landscape photography.
This is what I would eventually like to get with me Rebel. This was taken with my old Sony. The model is about an inch tall.
