Hi guys, I'm hoping I can get a little help from the fine members of this forum. I'm heading to San Francisco for business and will only have a day or so to get around town and snap a few photos. I've nevery been there before so I would love if you guys could share some of your shots from around San Francisco and where you took them from. Any advice on what I must see and the best vantage point from which to shoot it. Of course I will need the obligatory Bridge shot, but where to take it from is the question. Like I said, I will be in and out of town quickly so I won't have time to explore much at all, which is why I hope to go with a good game plan on where to go to get some good shots before I leave...Thanks for all your help!!

San Francisco has so many wonderful places and things to take photos of. I love walking the town and taking photos from that vantage. Walk to Union Square, China Town, the Wharf and Golden Gate Park to name a few. Here is a different bridge shot (Oakland Bay Bridge) I took from atop California Street.

I was in San Francisco back in September and as calicokat says, there are lots of great photo opportunities there. I don't have any of my pics on me at the moment (I'm currently at work!) but I can highly recommend the book "PhotoSecrets: San Francisco and Northern California" (http://www.amazon.com …-California/dp/0965308715 (external link)). This book has lots of great ideas for pics in and around San Fran and includes when is the best time of day to visit them, best angles, lighting, etc as well.

Hope you have a great trip....and post some pics when you're back!

Here's a few from my trip to California back in October. There's a lot to see in SF, one day is not nearly enough time. We were there for three days and still didnt get to see everything we wanted.
I can't wait to go back. I loved every minute of it...

If you get down to Fisherman's Wharf there are several tours of the Bay which leave from the south end of the Wharf (the Ghiardelli Chocolate Factory end). Those tours will take you under the Bridge and also around and close to Alcatraz. You should have plenty of photo ops of both within that hour -PLUS- you have a chance at shots of Frisco from the water and the Presidio.

By going to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (north end of the Golden Gate Bridge), you can get the universal shot of the GGB with the city of San Francisco in the background.

If you get a chance to go to Treasure Island, you could also get a shot of the skyline.

Here's a pic of the Conservatory of Flowers at Golden Gate Park.

I was in San Francisco last April for 3 days and that wasn't enough. Alcaltraz is a must if you have time. The good thing with SF is that there are sooooo many hills, it makes great for quality landscape shots. Here's my shot of the bridge. Have a great time;)
