I am just wondering why? The camera body has been out less than a year and so many young cameras are listed.

Agreed ... plus I don't see loads for sale compared to what I used to see for any previous body like 20D, 300D, 350D.

Could also be to do with the fact that the 400D has a higher pixel count and an anti-dust mech......and all for a lot less money.

Maybe they found out there is 40D coming out soon, and they are selling their 30D while the value are still high. :p

A lot of people buy DSLRs nowadays?
Some of them plan to upgrade?
Some lost interest?
Some plan to return to a P&S?

Who knows. ???

top 3 reasons for it. for the first one, a lot of ebay companies sell equipment, and if it's a hot item, they sell a lot of them. the second and third are basically one and the same for 80% of the people who fit into this category. hell, i've seen people buy a 1dsmkII and 3k in lenses only to find out it doesn't have a green box mode

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

Well mine was none of the above. I sold it (it was my backup) to fund a lens purchase. :)
Liked it just fine, actually.

No one in their right mind would swap out a 30D for a 400D ... unless they needed a few quid.

All in all I'd say cause of disapointment, a lot of people I talk to opted for the cheaper 20D because there was minimal improvement.

Actually if you look at the vast photography sites such as FLICKR and take a look at the camera's most commonly used, there are much more XT and 20D users then 30D, even the newer XTI outnumbers the 30D.

also I'm one of the few believers that the 40 D will be out 6 months early (Feb-March) because Canon probably wants to compete with the new Nikon, Pentax, Sony that come with 10 MP of the same class

Well I've just upgraded my 30d to a 1DmkIIN. I've got no complaints about the 30d it's an excellent camera, so much so I've decided to keep it for a backup though I did consider selling it at one point as it too is very young.

It also for me will make an excellent 'travel light' camera where the 1D might be a problem.
