I didn't go for a 30D because I had a 20D that i bought right before the new camera was released - I got it for a good price to. In my eyes the 30D was not that great an upgrade so i'm holding out for the 40D - or perhaps a 5D mark II? I'd love full frame.

why is there so much negativity about? The 30D is a great camera, and still will be after it has been superceded. It's as if there is a need for a product to be slated.

It would appear that quite a few people on these forum's have more money than sense, or they just didn't know what they were after in the first place, the way they buy/sell/swap etc.

Maybe some take too much notice of what's said here. There is much to be learnt here, but the best lesson I learnt years ago is that I didn't need half of what I purchased, and could have bought better than I had if only i was more patient.

It also for me will make an excellent 'travel light' camera where the 1D might be a problem.

Very smart! I have encountered too many people who simply want the 'top of the line pro camera' and they forget about the need to go on vacation with it and walk around all day with the wife while lugging a 1DsII with a 24-70 f/2.8L mounted and a 70-200 f/2.8L IS in the bag!

I think that there weren't enough upgrades from the 20D to push sales. Some of the new features were nice such as spot metering, a bigger LCD and Picture Styles but I don't think it warrants spending the extra cash when I can pick up a 20D for alot cheaper and get (basically) the same camera.

I can't say why they are being sold, but I do know that I got a very nice camera for a good price because of it. The guy that sold me mine simply lost interest in photography.

Rebates. Always around the time of rebates, you will see new cameras with the box missing the UPC, but never used.
They decide to buy their lens so they can get double or triple.

There seem to be cycles in the buy/sell forums here and at FredMiranda; every now and then you'll see that everyone wants to sell a particular item. The 70-200mm f/4L, for example, seems to have a short cycle period, as does the 200mm f/2.8L.
Right now I'm seeing that the 300mm f/4L IS is a popular item on the B/S forum at FM.com, but other times it's just impossible to find what you're looking for.

Or go on vacation and don't take a camera with them at all... I couldn't do that to myself.

Well mine was none of the above. I sold it (it was my backup) to fund a lens purchase. :)
Liked it just fine, actually.

I bought it from you and ever so pleased with it :)
