Flickr Out - Blocked By Websence

I work at a major insurance firm that uses a third party application called Websence to filter web content that is inappropriate for the work place. It seems that Websence added flickr to their list list that blocks content based for sex.

I can't see of my images or anyone else's who posts on flickr. I'm totally bummed.

If you have Websence on your corporate network, and your admin has not added flickr to trusted sites list, you will get a Websence error when you click here.

Not sure if this is the best place to post this thread. If the mod feels it should it might best be moved to another forum, then please feel free to do so.

Send an email to your boss with a link to the Glamour forums here, and ask for it to be unblocked. That way they'll know what yer doing at work

My company does the same for most of the web storage sites. I just have to wait until I get home.

Our whole group just moved to an area that is considerably more open so as of late, I had not been able to peer into the G&N section at work .

I'm under the same blanket.

photobucket, imageshack, flickr, pbase, and many other online picture sites are blocked =(

It is any employers right to decide what their employees can view on the internet during work hours. You just have to live with it and view flickr sites when you get home.

Hmm, now there is a novel idea. Do personal things on your own time. Works for me.

you should be greatful it's only websense....some companies will block any URL that has "forum" in the title.

And some companies have a technology use policy that this would violate and employment can be terminated.

I don't understand how people have time to even do these kind of things while at work. I mean, work is when you work.

And apparently so would many who work them.

We have a "reasonable use" policy at my job, though many, many sites are blocked. I actually like it that way - no way to wander off ionto forbidden territory by accident. When you are sitting at a computer all day, it helps keep productivity up by taking a short walk every hour, and stretch out. A quick peek at some "work safe" websites also helps clear the mind. Despite what many think about cushy, office jobs, the work can be demanding and tiring. I've bussed tables, been a line chef, imported and wholesaled tropical fish, ran retail stores, fixed HVAC systems, cleaned vinyl sided houses, plumbed, built cabinetry, installed and maintained huge aquariums, played drums in a rock band, and now I am programmer. Every job is hard work, and each different job had it's perks during break time. No reason for anyone to feel guilty for a little surfing while at work, as long as you are working when you are being paid.

Jeez.. It's getting hot in here.
