do you guys hand out your business card or something like that with a link so the guest can remember to view the photos online? Or do you just let the B&G to spread the words after your online proof is done?

I wanna be able to network and advertise at the same time, but in a very subtle way.

what do you guys suggest?

I just let the bride and groom know about the pictures. I usually have a slideshow with about 100 pictures ready to view by the next day and I put it on my blog. I know it works because I always get like 300 hits on my blog over the next couple days immediately after I send them the email.

Seriously, I believe that pushing brochures, cards or whatever is not needed and gives that 'used car salesman' feel. Let your clients do your marketing and selling for you. One great comment about you, direct from the bride and groom is WAY more effective than handing out 10,000 cards or brochures. This is the new style of photography marketing (hands-free marketing as coined by David Jay) that couldn't really be done in the film days when you had to wait a long time for pics. Get a bunch out ASAP and they'll spread the word FOR you.

If you hit them right after the wedding, they are still high on emotions from that day. People buy on emotion more than anything so timing is critical.

ah.. thanks. so you just send the online proofs to the B&G via email and then let them share it with their guest? i like the paperless idea.

I email a few images to customers a day or two after their wedding, but I think i'm going to set up a blog so I can put things there instead. Navigation on my website is pretty simple, so I could just hand out business cards and they'll find the images easily enough, especially if since when I email the B&G i'll link to the not-yet-created blog.

We do a few different ones.

One for the wedding with the couple's picture and info on where to see the final images. We will hand them out if asked for directly, or leave them by the laptop if we have the slideshow going. Nothing obtrusive.

another one we are going to start using are these that we will give to vendors that we work with and eventually maybe to bridal shops and jewlers
