Wow, the image looks rather blue in the post, whereas in reality it has a nice warm tone to it, both on my monitor and printed.:(

I quite often see that too when a photo that I've uploaded looks dull and colourless by comparison the the original. I used to use the "save for web" option, but now just use "save as" and adjust the quality myself to bring the size down.

I can't make my mind up about the foreground of your photo as to whether the plant just makes it look "busy". I wondered about whether a crop to remove this would give the pier more impact. What do you think?

The reason that save for the web makes your photo's look dull, is that is discards and colour profile that you had on the image. FYI

Thanks for the tip on saving John and Renboy. I'll try uploading it again, with the crop suggestion for comparison.

Yes, I like this, the composition provides a great sense of being there.
I'd remove the plants protruding bottom right.

Not sure about the plants, they give some depth... I like the colours you have captured here, despite your reservations, great shot well composed and exposed! :)

Thanks from me too Renboy. I really must spend more time on Photoshop to try and understand what these sort of things mean.

I like it. I would crop it just below the railing so you still have the depth of looking out from the balcony, but losing the posts and some of the leaves that makes it a little busy.

Thanks guys - I couldn't find a way of cropping it withough losing either the Bahamian flag, or the right hand end of the pier :( Since I am using it for notecards for the tourists staying at Sandals, those things are important elements. Especially the flag.

I think that you finally cracked it with that new CP filter, the sky looks nice and the colours are great.

I don`t think that the plants are in the way at all here Ann but the protruding ones at the right side should be cloned out IMO.
Beautyfull.

Thanks Dimitri, I do agree about the plants on the right, which Les also mentioned earlier.

I disagree. "Save for web" function removes pixels over an aggregated surface area giving preference to wide open areas (ie sky), and gives priority to pixel difference within a short diameter (ie: tree branches)

Here's proof that the Adobe "Save for web" is a sophisticated piece of code.

Click here and tell me this image is dull and colourless. ;) (external link)

Cheers.

I'm not pro...but it looks on my screen like there is too much magenta in the image. I can see it in the sky. Also, I would like to see it without the plants in the bottom forground. On the positive side...your picture make me want to be on that pier...anyone got a beer? Great job.
