Hi, I wanted to see what you all thought of these rainbow shots taken with my sigma bigma. The originals are somewhat sharper than these resized attchments. I had the long lens on the camera and decided just to take a couple shots to see what it could do with a not so wide landscape. All in all, I'm really pleased with the sharpness of the long lens. This was my first outing with the lens, and c&c is welcome. I'm open for tips on better composition, too. Thanks for looking.

I you would have taken these in 3D. We might be able to see the pot of gold.

Nice captures.

for a long lens they are not bad .but if you try image to ajust and down to exspoure pull the exposure -slider to minus 0.07 then offset slider to minus 0.0500 and gamma slider to 1.10 this will lift the shot giving more saturation and contrast to the image

Thanks a lot kingsown for the comments and suggestions to improve. And thanks Zeker for the comment. I already had done some of the adjustments you suggest but I agree they could use more. It was a super gray day (hence, the rainbow! :) ) so that contributed to the lousy contrast and lack of color.

There are hundreds of water foul in the photos but too small to be the real 'subject' of the photo. Therefore, I was wondering, is the rainbow prominent enough or worthy of being the subject? Enough that it holds one's attention? Maybe not and that may be why the photos received little comment. But that's the kind of feedback I needed to help me learn what does/doesn't make a good photo.

I thought I had said in my original post that I was up for c&c, good or bad. I really do want to learn how to take and compose better photos and this is why I'm posting here. I realize I could have posted in the c&c section but I instead opted for c&c in the shared section. Maybe folks just wanted to spare my feelings!:~( Constructive criticsim is welcome, just like kingsown provided!:D Thanks again for looking and sharing your thoughts!

#2 is cool, where's that pot of gold? Looks like you found the end of the rainbow.

Photographs are records of life. Pity they don't make music when you put them in a record player. :p

2nd shot shows decent color in the rainbow but the highlights of the grass appears to bright.... Also the image looks pretty noisey but the haze may have created the look... With some practice in post processing and some work with your EC adjustments you will be producing good images in no time...... The Bigma is an excellent lens and quite capable of producing outstanding detail.......Keep it up Dennis.....Alex

Thank you for the helpful critique, Alex. Yes, there was haze in the air, it was raining lightly and it was hand held. I didn't spend a lot of time on the shot because I didn't want the lens to get too wet. I agree that the part in the middle is too light. I didn't think it should be noisy at ISO 400, but maybe that's not a good assumption on my part. This is great feedback!
