Well, I just shipped off my 5D to forum member davidfig. It's a sad day indeed for old AeroSmith. The 5D was my first dSLR. It opened up a whole new world for me. And while for the last few months I've been passing her over in favor of my two 1-series bodies I will still miss the 5D with its amazing color rendering abilities and high ISO performance.

davidfig: enjoy and please take care of my baby.

Man... a 5D isn't a half bad way to enter the DSLR world. And at least you have two very excellent cameras to still work or play with :)

I can't wait. The poor UPS person isn't even going to have to get out of the truck if I have anything to do with it.

My ups girl is just interested in getting to the next drop off. So if I'm at the curb she will be happy.

So what new toys did you get for Christmas?

Well, with the $1,765 (after shipping) I got for the 5D (was that sticking it to him enough, Dante?.....probably not) I just ordered a 24-70/2.8L and a 430EX with bracket, cable, etc.

I really surprised at myself...here I've been a prime lens/natural light devotee and I just ordered a zoom lens and a flash. Oh God, what have I done.

This is the first camera I've ever sold. Heck, I still have the AE-1 that my dad got me 27 years ago when I was 11. That's why this is so hard for me.
