I have the chance to enter a photo competition open to continental employees and family members, where the title of the competition is:

"CO Destinations: CO Flies to More Destinations Than Any Other Carrier"

I am debating between 2 pictures. Which do you prefer and why? i like the island because it gives that exotic location that everyone wants to go, but the Englend picture has more action going on, and has a little more to look at. they may both look a bit dark because i edited themon my laptop, but ill fix that before submitting them. thanks a bunch.

Both are nice pictures but given the scope of the contest, I would go with #2 because it is a recognizable location and it equates with a designation the airline would service. The island looks deserted.

My thoughts as well. I would definitely go with the second shot. It features what I would consider a travel attraction while that's lacking in the first. In other words, the second one is a destination while the first, as beautiful as it is, looks more like a Survivor contest. ;) :D

Best of luck! :D

#2 for me too.

#1 has nice water and vegetation colours, but does not have a strong focal point, and the island part looks like it is cut off to the right.

#2 has more interest, but if your original has more detail available to the top and left of the palace, then I would leave more sky, and give a bigger space to the left so that the building is not so close to the edge of the frame. You could also crop some of the grass to the bottom in order to make the flower beds become a more dominant foreground feature.

Probably the second photo as it (as stated) will relate to somewhere the airline actually flies to rather than a deserted island.

I also prefer #2. And I am intrigued by Rudgeh's idea for a crop. With the foreground cropped a bit, the closest flower bed becomes a sort of leading line that takes the viewer to the buidling. BTW, it's a nice shot.
